IMMOBILIZER EMULATORS FOR HYUNDAI AND KIA

To say that I designed an emulator replacing communication with the immobilizer system in KIA and HYUNDAI vehicles is like saying nothing 😉

It’s a long story, several different algorithms, and several completed projects.

Let’s start with the most popular one – SMARTRA EMULATOR / DST80

I launched the project in 2015 and started production in 2016. Since then, several thousand vehicles have been launched worldwide on this emulator, and hundreds more are added every year.

The emulator is unique because it supports literally all ECUs with implemented SMARTRA1, SMARTRA2, SMARTRA3, SMASTRA3.2 systems, but not only…

In 2020, I added support for immobilizer systems with the DST80 transponder, i.e. separate immobilizer boxes, to the basic emulator program.

As a result of which the capabilities of this emulator were expanded to include support for the next large range of newer engine controllers.

Three wires should be connected: K-BUS/IMMO to SMARTRA/IMMO serial link, GND (ground) and +12 V IGN ( terminal „15”) or +12 V after the POWER relay.

Ensure the connection adheres to the vehicle’s repair schematics.

The colors of the corresponding wires are specified in the photo.

The location of the eeprom 24C02 memory is also specified in the photo.

On emulator PCB we have 3 x LED GREEN, RED, YELLOW, thanks to them we can carry out diagnostics of the emulator connection, they clearly indicate the current status of matching to the ECU.

A few examples from dozens of ECU types that the SMARTRA EMULATOR / DST80 works with :

DDCR DELPHI KIA CARNIVAL 39102-4X520.

The emulator is added to the ECU using a PIN code or by rewriting the relevant data from the ECU to the 24c02 memory mounted on the emulator PCB.

KEFICO SIM2K-510 39199-2U000, SMARTRA immobilizer emulator also unlocks this engine controller.

This is quite an interesting ECU, which we do not have to open in the process of emulator adaptation.

KEFICO CPEGD 2.20.4 which was previously paired with a SMARTRA 3.2 module.

to be continued …
